newborn photography session information

Newborns change so much in those first few weeks, so the ultimate time for newborn photography is 4-10 days after birth. When they are still this new we can capture the sleepy and curled poses with ease.

Katie has years experience working with newborns, and has earned the nick name ‘the baby whisperer’ with her settling and posing techniques. You will feel at ease as she works her magic as you relax in the peaceful surroundings of the studio. We book you in for a 2 hour session which gives plenty of time to stop and feed and settle if we need and build a gallery of gorgeous pictures.

Usually when you feed your baby before you leave they are nice and sleepy after the car ride so we can start shooting straight away. We have the studio toastie warm so we can get your little one nude and stay asleep. Dress your baby in loose clothes and not too many layers, and preferably a button top that is easy to undo so it doesn’t go over their head.

We have everything you need in the studio as far as hats, head bands, beanies, props, wraps, blankets. There is nothing like the soft skin of a newborn, the wrinkles they get when they are curled up and their perfect little hands and toes, for this reason we prefer to keep it minimal and keep the focus on your new baby.

Parents and siblings are welcome to be included in the session too. The best clothing for family to wear is white, beige or any neutral colour, also bring black to change into. Avoid bright colors and busy patterns.

Please let us know your due date so we can pencil you in and guarantee you a spot, once your baby is born ring us as soon as you can so we can get you in the studio between that perfect time frame.
